I’ve spent the last 10 years listen to everyone from everywhere rag on my favorite NFL team for every possible reason they can. Many are TOTALLY stupid, even lame and nit picky, but this latest one is beyond STUPID!

OK, first, for anyone that doesn’t already know, my favorite NFL team is the Cincinnati Bengals. (A moment here for those of you to say whatever sarcastic thing you want to say about them) ………… OK, that’s enough time! While I agree, they’ve done some really stupid things both on and off the field, they are still MY team and I am completely loyal to them. Why? Because they are the team I chose to follow 10 years ago and the thing is, when you’re a fan, you stick with the team you choose through thick and thin. Being a fan has NOTHING to do with winning or losing, PERIOD! Yes, winning is a better feeling, but life is about more than winning, life is about being loyal. Both to yourself AND your team(s).

Anyway, a couple weeks ago Carson Palmer was IN Los Angeles and was talking ON the air at a LOCAL radio station and made a statement that went something like this

“I cannot stand the Buckeyes and having to live in Ohio … it drives me completely nuts. Listening to them talk about their team makes me sick. … I just can’t wait for this game to get here so they can come out to the Coliseum and experience L.A. and get an old-fashioned Pac-10 butt-whipping. … And next year I hope we’re home the week S.C. visits the Horseshoe so that I can go there and watch the Trojans stomp them again.”

Now, many of the Buckeye fans are in a huff. They think that since the Bengals are an Ohio team, that Carson should be loyal to the Buckeye’s. While I could easily understand this “IF” Carson had been born and raised in Ohio, the fact of the matter is, HE WASN’T! Carson is a California native and a University of Southern California (a.k.a. USC) graduate. Now, tell me, wouldn’t YOU be loyal to your “home team”? Only a complete and total IDIOT would expect Carson to say he hopes the Bucks kick some USC butt at their next matchup! OH, WAIT, we’re talking about Buckeye fans here, I guess it makes a little more sense in thinking that they would expect him to not be loyal to the team that he played on for four years!

GET OVER IT! Can you imagine how freaking BORING this world would be if we all were fans of the same damn team? How BORING would THAT be? Team loyalty sparks some of the most outrageous moments in sports history and THAT my friend is anything BUT boring!

OK, so maybe Carson chould have been a little more careful in the wording of what he said, but for God’s sake, he was in California talking to a California radio station about the college football team that HE played on for four years. Who in their right mind would honestly think that he would say “GO BUCKS” even “IF” he were a recent Buckeye’s convert? NOT ME!!!!

Our poor Riley, this guy has been so sick today!  The only thing we can figure is that he got into something that he shouldn’t have.  He’s thrown up a total of 4 times today, the first time was the GROSSEST thing I’ve ever seen in my life.  We finally gave him a small amount of rice and he’s sleeping really peacefully right now.  And yes, I know he’s sleeping I keep checking his breathing…LOL!  So please keep Riley in your thoughts!  I’ll post how he did over night in the morning!

Football this weekend has had it’s good points and it’s bad points.  I’m happy that the Packers and the Patriots won!  I’m TOTALLY bummed that the Colts lost, but they also played one of the worst games I’ve ever seen them play!  Right now I’m watching Dallas and the Giants ans as of right now, at the end of the 3rd quarter, the game is 17-14 with Dallas leading.  This is definitely going to be a close game!

My first few classes at school went well.  I only have one class left that I haven’t had yet and that is my Tuesday night English comp class that is at my son’s High School.  It could have shot myself the other night when I realized that I scheduled a class for the same night of the week that my ALL TIME favorite TV show is on!  Yes, I’m talking about American Idol…LOL!  We have watched American Idol as a family for the past few seasons, it’s been the one thing that the four of us will drop what we’re doing and sit down and watch together.  I’d definitely have to say that we’re American Idol addicts…LOL!  BUT, at least I’ll be home on Wednesday nights to see who gets sent packing!  And I can always watch the performances online too!

It seems so hard to believe that this week is the last week of regular play in NFL!  I swear it feels like it’s only been a few weeks since my hubby and I went up to Detroit for the preseason game between the Lions and the Bengals!  Amazingly, it’s been a little bit more than just a few weeks…LOL!  Right now I’m watching the Steelers get their butts kicked by the Ravens, which to me is quite funny!  Especially when you consider that the Ravens are in last place in our division with fewer wins than my Bengals!

Speaking of my Bengals, they beat Miami today to go 7-9 for the season.  How sad is that?  Just a couple of years ago they were at the top of their game, heading into the playoffs, and now they can’t even play a .500 season.  I hope they can get their act together off the field in this off season so that when they come back in ‘08 they’ll have their act together ON the field!  The funny thing is that my hubby’s Lions are also 7-9 this year…LOL!  I don’t know what happened to the Lions, they had a heck of a first half of the season, they kind of fell apart.  I think their offense does a REALLY crappy job of protecting Kitna!  There were oodles of times this year that he was sacked simply because the offensive line left wide open spaces for the defense to have easy access to him.  If I were Kitna, I’d be PISSED!  Then again, if I were a Lions fan I’d be pissed that Millen is still there!  The Ford’s really need to get him out of there!  He makes some of the WORST draft calls and is just a complete idiot!  Then again, if the Ford’s had half a clue, they’d sell the team to someone who actually gave a crap!  But we all know that’s not going to happen, don’t we?

So, since neither my team or my hubby’s team has made it into the playoffs this year I need to decide who I’m going to root for from this point on.  Since I have a track record of rooting for the team that loses first, I’m going to start out rooting for the Steelers to get them eliminated right off the bat…LOL!

THIS is the she I am referring to

Today is the big Michigan - Ohio battle at her school and even though she asked a few weeks ago if it would be OK if she decided she liked Ohio from now on, which made me want to PUKE, she decided that she was going to dress in Michigan colors today.

I think it’s awesome that schools do stuff like this with the students!! I think more schools should take the time to do things that are “out of the norm” with the kids, it gives them something fun to look forward to and allows them a break from the normal day to day routine that can get boring and tedious!

As for me, well, this is what I say. You can take the girl out of Michigan, but you CANNOT take Michigan out of the girl. So even though I now live in Buckeye country, I’ll always be a Wolverine at heart!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my husbands team (Detroit Lions) played an early game today, and as of right now they are ahead of Tampa Bay 23-7 with 5:18 left in the 4th quarter, so there’s a pretty good chance that they’re going to win their game today, giving them a 4-2 record.  The Lions are, in my opinion, doing awesome this year, and are the team to watch (also, my opinion).

My team (Cincy Bengals) play a 4:00 game, we play the New York Jets, and for once, it looks like the game is actually going to be televised in my area.  How much of the game I’ll actually watch, probably not much.  We’re having a rough day around here today and hubby and I aren’t talking to each other at the moment.  We’ll see though, I have a few online things that I need to get taken care of, so I might be able to catch some of it.

After being together for 17+ years, my husband has managed to change my mind on sports. Prior to his coming into my life, I didn’t care for sports that much. I never got into sports while I was in school, and none of my friends paid too much attention to sports. Now, I’d have to say I’m a sports addict, well, mostly football, but I do watch other sports too!

One of the latest sports I’ve gotten into watching is college football. It used to be that the only time I watched college football was when the Michigan Wolverines were playing. But lately I’ve managed to catch a few other college teams and have to say that I’m pretty impressed with what I’ve seen. One team that I recently watched was the Oklahoma Sooners, they’re a pretty impressive team this year and if I lived closer, I’d be tempted to grab some Oklahoma Sooners tickets and catch a game in person.

My husband was sitting at his computer and he looked over at me and asked me if I had heard or read about THIS story.  After reading it, I’m sitting here with this dumbfounded look on my face and thinking “ARE YOU F’ING KIDDING ME?”.

It appears as if our not so intelligent NFL commissioner is considering allowing THE sports event of the year (a.k.a. The Super Bowl) to be held at Wembley Stadium in London.  Now, please don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against the people across the pond, but I’m sorry, NFL is American Football, why does the commissioner think that it would be appropriate to hold a Super Bowl game in London?  This is a smack in the face to the millions of American NFL fans that attend the games on a regular basis!!!!

I’m sorry, but if this happens, that will be one Super Bowl that I will not watch, and it will also make me reconsider watching any other NFL game!

This has been one of the most boring days I’ve had in a very long time!  As much as I wanted to sleep in, I woke up at the crack of dawn, heck, the sun wasn’t even completely awake yet….LOL!  It was almost 2 hours before anyone else woke up, which was nice because I enjoy the peace and quiet, that doesn’t happen here very often.

There really isn’t anything going on today.  I’ve worked a little on some homework, but there’s none that is pressing to be done by tomorrow.  There isn’t a ton of housework to be done for a change, there really isn’t much of anything to do today.  Now, normally it would be OK, because it IS Sunday, and Sunday means football all day, but even that is totally boring me.  The only game on right now is the Lions/Eagles game and the Lions are getting their butts kicked BIG TIME!  The Bengals play at 4, but so do the Browns, and both games are being covered by CBS, so my lovely CBS station will cover the Browns game.  That will leave me to “watch” my game online at NFL.com, which is VERY VERY VERY boring!

Maybe I’ll just go take a nap….LOL

I expressed my complete and utter disgust at how the Bengals played last week on my other blog.  I finally had to give up and not watch most of the 4th quarter because of how mad they were making me…LOL!  I was hoping that they’d do better this week, especially considering that we’re playing the Browns (no offense to any Browns fans that read here), but they’re proving that they’re still bumbling idiots.  Yes, I knew the history of the Bengals when I chose them as “my” team, but every fan hopes that their team can improve a little each year.  They had an awesome year 2 seasons ago, but came back last year and just couldn’t pull it off.  So I hoped that this year would be a little better, but it sure isn’t looking like it’s going to be.  They make sloppy mistakes that cost them BIG TIME!  They had 2 turn overs in the first half of todays game that ended up giving the Browns points.  With with the 3rd quarter closing in on being half way over, we’re down 33-24.  I don’t begrudge the Browns, they’re playing one heck of a game today and showing themselves to be a team that has their stuff together.  I just wish the Bengals were capable of doing the same thing!

Although I have some school work to work on today as well as a test to study for, my TV is already tuned into the pre game show.  Today is the first football Sunday of the season, and I am PUMPED!  The only thing that bums me out is that I’m not playing Fantasy Football this year.  This is the first year in 6 years that I wasn’t able to put a team together.  Everyone that I’ve played with the past few years either already had a team or didn’t want to play this year. :(  *sigh*

That’s OK, I have a lot on my plate as it is, so it’s for the best anyway!  Speaking of having a lot on my plate, you know already that I’m going to school and working a day or two a week, on top of the house and family stuff.  But what I haven’t told you yet is that I have my first meeting this week to work on my schools news paper!  I’m not sure yet what I’m going to be doing, I may be writing, I may be working behind the scenes, it’s still undetermined.  But it’s something that I really wanted to do!  So keep your eyes posted, you may just see my name in print ;)
