First, for those that have no idea what Boost is, it is a pre paid cell phone company that is, from what I last knew, a branch of Nextel. We have had various cell phones through Boost on and off for several years now. We’ve used the mostly because of the ability to use the 2 way or “chirp” feature with family members who are ardent Nextel users.
We currently only have one cell phone through Boost that my son uses for the rare occasions that he needs a cell phone, which aren’t very often, and he did take the phone with him to Baltimore just in case he would need a cell phone while he was out there. A couple of days after we got home from taking the kids out to Baltimore I got a postcard from Boost telling me that they had given us a free $15 credit on the account, which was cool! I asked my son if he had been using the phone while he was out there and he said it’s still in his suitcase and he hasn’t even turned it on.
Being the meddling mom that I am, I decided to log into the Boost account this morning just to check it out and see whether or not he had been using the phone. To my amazement I seen a daily charge to the account for an application called “Boost Hookt”. I had no clue what this was so I Googled it and found out that it’s an application that allows people to connect to several different things as well as people using their phone, and that it’s an application that you have to actually sign up for. Although my son uses the phone, the account is in my name and I know that I never signed up for this Hookt thing…LOL! And I tried to go into the account activity to find out exactly when this was supposedly signed up for and for some reason I can’t see any account activity before Boost applied the “free” $15 credit. So, even though the phone isn’t being used at all, this “free” credit that they gave me is being eaten up little by little because we’re being charged daily for a program that A). I don’t recall signing up for and B). a program that you’re only supposed to be charged for if you actually use it.
HMMMMMMMMMMMM…….something sounds VERY fishy to me!!!!! And yes, I did contact them and am waiting for them to contact me back. But past history has proven to me that their customer service SUCKS! I’ll keep you posted as to what they say back to me!
