At 4:30 this afternoon I received an email alert that my daughters school had already canceled school for tomorrow. Now, that may seem a bit premature, but considering that the temperature today never went above freezing and it was a cloudy/overcast day, it’s not surprising. None of the ice on the trees around here melted, and our driveway is a solid sheet of ice still. When you also take into consideration the fact that we currently have a drizzle/snow mixture, it is foggy and the temp is still below freezing, I’m actually glad that they gave parents that much of a notice that school would be canceled. Now I just have to convince my son that it’s not a big deal if he has school tomorrow…..LOL!
So we’re getting ready to settle in for the night, it’s chilly and a great night to snuggle under the flannel sheets! I’m exhausted, I think I got about 3 hours of sleep last night, then a quick 45 minute cat nap after my hubby woke me up to let me know he made it to work safely. When he called tonight to say he was on his way home he told me that the parking lot at work was a solid sheet of ice and it was quite foggy, the fog hadn’t hit here yet. So I just told him to be careful and take his time, that there was nothing pressing going on here, that it was more important for him to be safe. It took him a little more than an hour to get home, which isn’t too bad considering he was on the expressway during 5 o’clock traffic.
So, we’ll see what tomorrow brings. My hubby is off work, unless they call him in the morning. My daughter wants to go to a friends house tomorrow, but I’m currently arguing with her about it because I’ve been on her for over two weeks to clean her messy room. So she waited until 8:30 tonight to get busy on it, after I told her she wouldn’t be going anywhere tomorrow because she hadn’t cleaned her room yet. So here it is, 9:20 PM and my 12 year old has decided it’s finally time to clean her room. Can you say UGH?!?!
