Amazingly, although it’s from this week, I have what I think is an AWESOME rare photo. On Tuesday, for the first time in more than 7 years, we spent some time with my step daughter. She’s a great “kid” and her father and I are very proud of the young woman she has become. So my photo is rare because it’s a picture of hubby with all 3 of his kids, the first that’s been taken since 1997. It’s also something that’s very precious to us!

WOW, I knew I had been busy, but I had no idea it had been eight days since I had posted anything here. Sorry about that, I’ll try not to let it happen again, I promise!

Things are going pretty good! Hubby is driving me INSANE because losing his job has made him VERY antsy! He’s not one to just sit and do nothing. School went well this week for me, although yesterday was a bit nerve wracking. I have exams coming up Monday and I’m really struggling with one of my classes! I know that the only thing I can do is study and just do my best, but that is not an easy task for the perfectionist in me….LOL!

Starting today I’m going to be studying as much as possible over the next 4 days. Fortunately the weather today and tomorrow is going to be icky, so it’ll be easy to do those 2 days. But Saturday and Sunday the weather is going to be super nice, so it will be a little harder to focus. But it must be done, so I will get it done!

Speaking of studying, I’d probably better get busy!

Well, not literally here as in the blog, but here as in my hands…LOL! The item that I have drooled over and wanted for well over a month now finally arrived today, albeit a day late (no thanks to UPS). This is another first in my life because it is the very first BRAND new one of these I’ve ever had! So without further adieu, I’d like to present “PINK”

sanyo-katana-pink-phone.gif

Yes ladies and gentlemen, I’m talking about a cell phone…LMAO! You need to know something about me and cell phones. Up until last fall, I had had the same cell phone for 5 years. But last fall my husband talked me into getting cell phone service from Boost Mobile because I could then use the two way feature and “beep” him on his Nextel that was provided by his employer. This was a neat thing, but I must admit that the “beep, beep” drove me up a WALL!

WELLLLLLLLL, since hubby lost his job last week, he also lost his work provided cell phone, making it necessary for us to figure out what to do for a phone for him. I had searched for quite some time for a new cell phone for myself, so when I found out that I could get that pretty phone for only $29.95 I decided that was the one that I wanted. So I showed it to hubby, who obviously didn’t want a pink phone, and told him they also offered it in a bright sapphire blue and showed it to him, he was sold! We also ended up being able to get a 3rd phone to share on the plan, so we picked up just a simple basic phone for the kids to share.

There is a small amount of bad news though, but it only applies to the hubby. While unlocking the phones today to start service it was discovered that someone in the factory messed up and didn’t put the correct number in so that we could unlock hubbys phone. Between myself and the service tech we tried OODLES of number combinations, to no avail, and finally ended up permanently locking the phone. So they have to send us a replacement phone, which will be here no later than Monday. This stinks because of all of the phones, his was the one that was a MUST HAVE! So for now he’ll use the kids’ phone and drool over mine…LOL!

I need to get some homework done, so I’d better get going. I have class tonight, then I’m off until Monday….WHOOHOO!!

Today’s Photo Hunt was actually a difficult one for me because I personally don’t have any hobbies. I used to be a crafter, but that was before I discovered computers…LOL! And as much as I like my computer, I dislike thinking of it as a hobby. So I started digging through the thousands of pictures I have here on my computer and ran across a folder that made me say “AHA”! Even though I thought I didn’t have any hobbies, I realized that I do have one and it’s actually a “family” hobby as well…LOL!

We’re a family that are football addicts…LOL! Many years ago my husband was asked by one of his friends if he’d be interested in joining a fantasy football league. He was thrilled and decided to join because he’s been a Detroit Lions fan his entire life and has always enjoyed watching a football game. I never really enjoyed them, the sport just didn’t make sense to me. BUT, my choices after he joined the fantasy football league were to either watch the game and get to know it or become a football widow. I opted to start watching football. That was in the fall of 1997. Today, I am a complete football addict and even have my “own” team. I also try to play online fantasy football every year.

That being said, the pictures I’m sharing this week are pictures of a dream come true from this past Christmas Eve. It was to have been a boring day staying at home in anticipation of Santa. That was until our phone rang. We were offered 4 tickets to the Detroit Lions game as well as a premium parking pass. Going to an NFL game has been something we’ve wanted to do for a very long time, but it simply wasn’t affordable for us. And being able to go to a Lions home game was a dream come true! We all dressed in our best Lions gear (even though I am NOT a Lions fan) and headed out. It was an amazing experience that I’ll never forget!

Well, 6+ hours later, I’m DONE!  All of my homework due tomorrow is done!  YAY!!!!!!  The e-commerce homework was the one that took the longest.  At least now I know that I’m going to be off limits on Tuesday’s due to homework.  I have some time between the end of my morning classes and my night class that I can work on it, but with having to get my daughter from the bus and make dinner, it makes it a little harder to get work done.  Now after my Wednesday classes I don’t go back to class until Monday, so that gives me a few days to work on homework….LOL!!

Hubby was a doll tonight though and got take out for dinner, which the kids actually enjoyed.  He’s doing good tonight, as am I.  I think the reality of it all is that even though him being fired REALLY stinks, it is more than likely going to turn out to be a good thing.  This job has stressed him out for a VERY long time. Earlier today I caught him setting with this dazed look on his face and asked him if he was ok.  His reply was “I have this overwhelming sense of relief”.  I think it’s from a combination of things.  The first being that fact that there is no longer any speculation, he knows he’s been laid off permanently, the second being the fact that the huge amount of stress that the job caused him is no longer a factor in his life.  I also think that there is a tiny amount of being depressed in there, but only because of the dedication he had to his job and the guys that worked for him, he’s really going to miss them!

Anyway, since my homework is done, I’m going to play for a little while, not sure if it will be online of off though….LOL

After more than a weeks worth of speculation and run around, my husbands department at work was called into a meeting this morning and they were all let go effective immediately with 2 weeks severance pay.  At least now there’s no more speculation.

Well, my first day is over, and not only did I survive it, I actually enjoyed it…LOL!  I have to say it went WAAAAAAAAAY faster than I thought it would!  I thought I’d have a good amount of time between my 1 p.m. class and my 7:30 p.m. class to study, and although I did get some studying done and even made dinner, it felt like it was a VERY short time til I had to go back to class tonight.

I like my instructors, they seem to have good senses of humor.  In my first class today there was to be 20 students, but only 11 showed up.  In my 2nd class there were just 2 of us there when it started, I figured there’d be more, but to my surprise there are only 2 of us for a 2 1/2 hour class.  It will make for some good learning time, but the class really does drag on.  For my class tonight there was a full class with 11 people there.  I was very impressed with how simple the instructor laid things out and made it easy to understand!  I guess I should let you know that my night class is my HTML class, and to me, HTML reminds me of something like I would expect Trigonometry would look like, but without the numbers…..LOL!

Anyway, I need to get to bed.  Tomorrow is the day we find out if my hubby is getting bad news or livable news about his job.  Fortunately the meeting is first thing in the morning, so we won’t have to wait the day out.  I’ll keep you posted, cross your fingers and say a prayer please!

As you may or may have not read on Thursday morning, I decided that I was going to try and document the life of a paper coffee cup. It was going to be fun and I had many neat ideas, but as with many good ideas it wasn’t meant to happen.

I left for school orientation Thursday morning at 9:15, and got home shortly after noon. When I walked in the door I was greeted with a HUGE mess! Amidst the mess I found my precious coffee cup, chewed and torn up. So, before I was even able to take it on one adventure or even take a photo of it, it’s “life” ended.

I will try again, and next time I’ll do more to protect my cup!

Today’s Photo Hunt Theme is clean. My entry is a tad bit humbling, but one I felt fit the theme perfectly. We live in a fairly old house and in the dining room is a built in hutch. Since I don’t have special china or things that ordinarily go into a hutch, I use it for storage of many different types of items. Unfortunately, the top of the hutch seems to be the “catch all” area for everything that people don’t want to put away or don’t know where they go. After my entry for clean, which are the after pictures of the hutch, I will post the before pictures so that you can see what it normally looks like..LOL!

And here are the before pictures

This is a picture of the whole top of the hutch, here are pictures of each side to give you a closer look as to how stuff gets piled up there

I will admit that the purses are mine, as are the candles that have been there since our last major storm warning in case the power went out. Other than that the only things that are mine are things that actually belong up there like the lava lamp, photos and Bengals Teddy Bear. The clutter that accumulates up there is probably my biggest pet peeve in this house…LOL!~~~

Not super big, but big to me…LOL! In 1 and 1/2 hours I’ll be at college orientation. I can’t believe starting school is only a mere 5 days away! It seems like I just said that I was going to check into going back to school a few days ago. Time sure has gone fast! Today should be fun though, we get to meet our teachers and get our picture taken for school ID’s…LOL.

My other news is that I’ve decided to do something most would consider weird, but to me it sounds like fun! Yesterday I got a cup of coffee from Beaners. For some odd reason I came up with the idea to “document” the life of my coffee cup…LMAO! I’m going to take daily pictures of it and use it when I can for coffee and have at least one person a day sign the cup. I’ll attempt to document what all was done that day while my coffee cup was with me. I’m hoping this poor paper cup lasts for a little while at least. So far I have 2 signatures on it. The first was my super cool hubby’s, the 2nd was a lady that was sitting at the info desk at the building where the kids went for their anger management group yesterday.

Anyway, I need to finish getting ready for Orientation. Have a great day!

Good morning everyone!  I figured it was time I popped in here and said hello for a change.  It wasn’t until I posted my Photo Hunt entry on Saturday that I realized I hadn’t posted in a week.  To say the least, last week was busy!

I’m thrilled to report that the only thing left to do before I start my college classes is to go to Orientation on Thursday morning.  I went last week and picked up my books and parking permit.  It’s so hard to believe that one week from today I will be sitting in class!  I’m so very excited about this and the opportunity it is going to allow for my family once I get these next 2 years out of the way!

My daughter is on spring break this week and my hubby chose this week, of all weeks, to use up a week of his vacation time.  I was really hoping to have some me time this week before starting school next week, but I think it will be a busy week instead.  But that’s ok, with him being home maybe I can get a few things finished up as well.  My son is on spring break next week, so he’ll be home alone, which I can guarantee you he will enjoy!

The weather this weekend was nice, we were able to open up some windows and get some fresh air in the house as well as spend some time outside with the dogs, which they enjoyed.  Today and tomorrow are supposed to be nice weather wise also, but Wednesday the temps are going down into the 40’s with over night temps below freezing.  Hopefully this will be our last cold weather blast, I sure am tired of the cold!

Not much going on today, I’m attempting to sort and fold the mountain of socks that have accumulated.  In case I haven’t told you, sorting and folding socks is my least favorite part of doing laundry!  I always end up with socks that don’t match, so I’ve decided to make sure that every possible sock is washed today and when I get them sorted and folded any that don’t have matches are going to that sock pile in the sky (a.k.a. my burn barrel…..LOL).

Have a great day!
